Introducing Tiffany Katter!

September 2nd, 2010

We are thrilled to introduce the newest member of the Event Design team, Tiffany Katter. Upon meeting Tiffany, we immediately felt she was a perfect fit for Event Design. We have every confidence that her professionalism, talent, organizational skills, attention to detail and impeccable style will compliment and exceed the needs of our clients! Please feel free to welcome Tiffany and introduce yourself via email! We can’t wait for her to build upon and establish her own working relationships with our clients and friends in the industry we so deeply value. Below, read more about Tiffany and how she came to fall in love with event planning!

Tiffany has a passion for creating distinctive events. Her attention to detail, style, and quality, always tailored to the client’s vision, is her professional trademark. She is a proud graduate of Penn State University, where she obtained a degree in Marketing. Her event planning and coordinating experience extends from planning and assisting corporate client events to acting as the Director of Marketing for a national chain of high end specialty stores. More recently, Tiffany has had the opportunity to assist in the planning and coordination of many friends’ events and weddings as well as plan her own. It was through these experiences that her passion for personalized event planning was born. Now she is pursuing this passion full time while bringing her own unique sense of style and her knowledge of the latest industry trends to make her Event Design clients’ dreams a reality.

“My career with wedding coordinating began almost out of necessity one lovely Saturday afternoon. My wonderful husband has a fabulous talent of photography – he is not a professional but he will do photos for friends. So, when he was asked by our dear friend Olivia to photograph her wedding, my husband asked if I would help out??? Of course, I love weddings!!!

When everything was just about to get started, I asked where the coordinator was to get the ceremony in order. I was told that there wasn’t a coordinator??? I was not sure why but we had hit chaos and something needed to be done, so I just began putting everyone in order and sending them down the aisle. As the day went on, I continued to put out fires that stemmed from an absent coordinator, such as getting the ring bearer to the nearest restroom right before he was supposed to walk down the aisle, giving the bride and groom a ride to their reception, finding a guest that knew how to tie a complicated bustle, coming up with a timeline of events for the caterer and entertainment, replacing candles that had burned out and packing up and transporting the décor and gifts at the end of the night. Once I saw the joy on the bride and groom’s face while they were thanking me for an event that ended up coming together beautifully, I immediately knew that I had found my true calling. When I met Amber and DJ from Event Design, I quickly realized that they have the same level of dedication and deliver the personalized service that I desire to give my clients. I couldn’t be more excited to join the Event Design team!”

Pink Tie Gala 2010 for the Suncoast Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure!

June 2nd, 2010

The Pink Tie Gala held last weekend was a tremendous success!  One of the highlights for many guests was hearing the gala’s honorary chair, Adam Hayward speak.  To watch a must-see video created by the Tampa Bay Buccaneer’s Video Producer, Takara Fuller, click here. This video truly summarizes what the Pink Tie Gala is all about and why Event Design chose to serve on this committee to make the event as successful as possible. (Amber as the Co-Chair of the Pink Tie Gala and Lindsay as the Co-Chair of the Event Production committee along with our great friend Jocelyn Karas from Voila Cinematic – who served as a Pink Tie Gala sponsor as well). Reginald Roundtree served as our emcee for the evening.

We are excited to give you a sneak peek with photographs featured by the talented and always amazing Becky Johnson of Becky Johnson Studios, also a sponsor of the Pink Tie Gala.  Other highlights of the event included a giant silent auction room – including numerous items such as: an autographed poster by Jimmy Buffet, David Yurman earrings, many gift baskets from local restaurants, spas, and boutiques, a suite for an October Tampa Bay Lightning game, a signed photograph by John Travolta, Taylor Swift autographed photo collage, and much, much more!  The live auction was a big hit as well, including a trip to the Kentucky Derby, a vacation to Lake Tahoe,  BMW driving experience, a trip to Costa Rica, two gorgeous rings by Owen Sweet … just to name a few!

Each guest enjoyed fabulous music from the South Town Fever band along with their personal favorites from the pink dessert buffet, featuring a PINK chocolate fountain by Chocolat Affair along with a mini-cookie assortment from Publix Greenwise, dipped chocolate cake truffles from A Piece of Cake, petit fors from Alessi Bakery, Poplicious gourmet popcorn, and a wide candy assortment of salt water taffy, jelly bellies, strawberry malt balls, etc.  We are sure that no one left the gala hungry!

In addition to our involvement as committee members, Event Design also served as a sponsor for the Pink Tie Gala, providing decor including our chiavari chairs, up lighting, gobo lighting, pipe and drape, tabletop decor and floral design.  It was a phenomenal experience and more than rewarding to give back to such a worthy cause. Stanislawek/Perkins Wedding

May 12th, 2010

Congratulations to Daniela and Joshua on their wedding last weekend at Hunters Green Country Club.  Enjoy photos of the transformation we designed and installed for the ceiling that helped add to the fairy tale feel of the day.  Daniela chose an elegant palette of ivory and gold, accented by fuchsia in her bridesmaid gowns as well as the room up lighting.  Gorgeous pink peonies and soft pink roses were arranged beautifully by Apple Blossoms Floral Designs.  We enjoyed the opportunity to work with Daniela and her family in planning the decor for the wedding celebration!

Pink Tie Gala 2010

May 5th, 2010

This year, Event Design has been thrilled to be involved in planning the 2010 Pink Tie Gala located at Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay.  This fundraising event, held on Saturday, May 22, 2010, is near and dear to our hearts and we are so very excited to help benefit Florida Suncoast Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure Organization.

We have an amazing committee working on the event and are truly excited to make the event as successful as possible.  This event will be an elegant “pink tie” evening featuring live entertainment, a cocktail reception, dinner, dancing and fabulous auctions featuring one-of-a-kind experiences.

With over 2.5 million people living with breast cancer in the United States, it’s difficult to find a single person whose life has not been affected by the disease.

We are so excited to bring the Pink Tie Gala back for its second year.  75% of the money raised in the community stays in the community.  The remaining 25% goes towards the Komen National Research & Awards Grants Program, and together these programs have contributed over $1 billion to find the cure.

If you are interested in attending the event, making a donation, or possibly donating a silent auction item, please visit our website at http://komensuncoast.org or email us at Lindsay@myeventdesign.com

Join the fight for a cure!

Tiffany & Nathan!

April 20th, 2010

Tiffany and Nathan were married at the charming and quaint Paseo Village, boasting beautiful backdrops of waterfalls and tropical Florida landscaping.  Fortunately, after a morning of quite a ‘good luck’ rainfall, the clouds parted and the sun made it’s appearance just 15 minutes before the ceremony began.  Because of the weather, we had to move both the ceremony and reception indoors but it made no impact on the day.  The intimate ceremony set the tone for an evening of love and laughter for Tiffany and Nathan’s family and friends!  Tiffany and Nathan chose a contemporary design style using soft tones of green and hints of coral and orange.  The bride’s gown featured a silk green wrap which matched her shoes! The reception kicked off with the motto: “Life’s short, eat dessert first” and the newlyweds cut and served the cake before dinner!  After dinner, guests were treated to gourmet desserts that matched the color scheme and were quite divine as well as an adorable Groom’s Cake, too cute!  A sweet ending for Mr. and Mrs. Riches! Congrats!
